Knitted hats for Milo

Here are the hats I made for Milo:

 (newborn version)
Use size 4 circular needles
Cast on 54 stitches
Knit for about 5 inches
(Knit 8 rows, then purl 8 rows, repeat)
Then knit 2 stitches together all the way around.
Knit the next row
Then knit 2 stitches together all the way around
Then use a needle and pull the stitches together and knot off.

 (newborn version)
Use size 4 circular needles
Cast on 56 stitches
Knit2, Purl2 all the way around for 12 rows
Knit for 22 rows
(The hat should now be 5 inches)
Then knit 2 stitches together all the way around.
Knit the next row
Then knit 2 stitches together all the way around
Then use a needle and pull the stitches together and knot off.

I got the yarn from Jimmy Bean Wool and I decided to go with Cotton Cascade Luna Yarn - Colors: 740 Coca & 713 Green.

Valentine's Day

My friend Carly posted a knitted heart pattern, which I used to make heart garland.

Chicago

This weekend we went on a road trip to Chicago. I passed the time during the 6 hour car ride adding hand stitching to a quilt. When we got to Chicago we saw Refused and Off, which was an amazing show! Then the rest of the weekend consisted of walking, eating, shopping & hanging out with some awesome pups! Huge thanks to Kate for letting us stay at her apartment!

 (We stopped in at a Whole Foods in Indy for lunch. About a half hour before I got there, I dropped the one and only needle I had been using on this quilt. So, we had to make an emergency stop before we got back on the freeway to find some more needles.)

(Friday brunch at Chicago Diner. As always, a great meal. I had the vegan version of the EGG-BISCUIT SAMMY which was: tofu on a country biscuit, with seitan sausage, creole mustard, potato hash with vegan cheese and bacon. We also shared a vegan milkshake, but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of that.)

 (Friday night dinner at Handlebar. My favorite thing there is the Buffalo 'Chicken' Wrap. It's great! But I totally didn't remember to take a picture until my food was half way gone.)

(Friday night after we walked back from dinner, we stayed at Kate's apartment and watched some of the Olympics. I know, we were party animals...)

While I was putting together this post, I realized that I took a million pictures of Oliver and I didn't take any pictures of Kate. I feel like such a failure! 

 

whew!

The past few weeks have been very eventful! Friends had a baby, other friends got married & tons of friends were visiting from out of town. Then to top everything off, a huge storm attacked Clintonville and there is a chance we might not have our power turned back for another week. So, I haven't been able to work on my sewing project and it's been a little too hot for me to want to knit. Last weekend I didn't make a dent into all of the crafty projects I wanted to work on. And now I have another top secret project I need to start working on in between both of these projects! FUN!

 

 (This is the beginning of a blanket me & Meghan (plus a few other friends) are working on for Walter. Hopefully we'll get this done before he is too big to use it!)

Knitting Night - Double Knot

Every other Thursday night I go to a knitting night at EcoFlora, called Stitch Rage. Thanks to Carly, tonight I learned how to join yarn by making a double knot!

Bluebirdsky Cowl

My lovely friend Sue moved to NYC last summer. For Christmas, I made her a cowl to help her stay warm while she is traveling around her new city. I didn't follow a specific pattern but here is the pattern that inspired me to make the cowl Sue is wearing in the above picture.

Blankets for the Mintons

The last time Hunter & I were at the Minton's house, I took a couple picture of the kids with the blankets I knitted for them when they were babies. These two kids are amazing! The blanket I made for Luke was the first baby blanket I ever knitted.

December Birthday

My Mom's birthday is a couple days before Christmas. This year, one of her presents was handmade by me! Hopefully she'll be able to put this cowl to good use this winter.

Cowl for a kiddo

Last weekend, I made a cowl for the most adorable kid in Monroeville, OH. This project was super easy, I used a circular needed and just did a basic seed stitch and twisted the yarn. I'm so happy the cowl actually fit her!

Big Herringbone Cowl

Over the last couple weeks, I've been trying to make the Big Herringbone Cowl. I really really like this stitch, but it drives me crazy how the edges of the cowl roll up. I think this is going to be great to wear when it really cold outside, which will be perfect for living in Ohio. I also need to thank Meghan for helping me figure out this pattern. Meghan, is a great knitting partner!
